Upon returning to Japan in the early 1920s, Taketsuru embarked on a mission to bring the essence of Scotch whisky back to his homeland. In 1934, he established the Yoichi Distillery in Hokkaido, a region renowned for its pristine water sources and conducive climate for whisky production.
