Established by George Garvin Brown, it holds the distinction of being the longest continuously distilled bourbon on the market today. Brown, a pharmaceutical salesman, recognized the inconsistency and often dubious quality of whiskey at the time and sought to introduce a reliable, high-quality bourbon to the market. To achieve this, he implemented a revolutionary concept – sealing bourbon in glass bottles to ensure its purity and consistency. This innovative approach earned Old Forester the title of America's First Bottled Bourbon.
From its inception, Old Forester has remained committed to its original principles of quality, consistency, and authenticity. During the tumultuous years of Prohibition, the brand managed to survive by obtaining one of only six licenses for medicinal whiskey production, allowing it to continue operating legally.
