A truly traditional artisanal agave spirit from Santa Catarina Minas, Oaxaca, produced by renowned mezcalero Eduardo Javier Ángeles Carreño under his Lalocura label.

This expression is made from Cuishe (Agave rhodacantha) using deeply traditional methods. The agave is cooked in a pre-Hispanic-style underground oven and then double distilled in clay pots, a hallmark of Santa Catarina Minas production. The batch is adjusted using puntas y colas rather than water and bottled at a robust 48.7% ABV (97.4 proof).

Expect an expressive profile with roasted agave, fresh herbs, green vegetation, earthy minerality and pepper, complemented by subtle fruit, smoke and clay-driven character. The palate should be complex and rustic, with the higher proof carrying the flavors into a long, earthy and herbaceous finish.
