This distillery gained fame for producing rye whiskey of exceptional quality, becoming known as Shenk's Distillery.Throughout the years, Shenk's Distillery underwent several changes in ownership and name, eventually becoming known as Bomberger's Distillery in the 19th century. However, Bomberger's Distillery managed to survive by obtaining one of the few licenses granted for medicinal whiskey production.
