Founded in 1860 by Charles Nelson, a German immigrant with a passion for distilling, the distillery quickly gained renown for its exceptional spirits, particularly its Tennessee whiskey.
Despite facing the challenges of Prohibition and the subsequent closure of the distillery in 1909, the Nelson family's dedication to their craft never waned. In 2006, Charlie and Andy Nelson, fifth-generation descendants of Charles Nelson, resurrected their family's distilling tradition, breathing new life into the historic site.
